Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Center is thrilled to announce a new program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing teens in the Monterey and San Benito Counties called Gaining Opportunities After Life in School For The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (GOALS).
The Monterey Peninsula Foundation is funding this program with a very generous grant of $10,000 from their Youth Fund.
GOALS will be preparing students to smoothly transition from K-12 into adulthood. DHHSC Central Coast Outreach Office’s Client Service Specialist Jacque Fitzpatrick will be meeting with Deaf and Hard of Hearing teens in the K-12 schools to discuss a wide range of topics and tools they will need as adults. She will also be meeting with the students to begin setting goals for their future, as well as planning how to achieve them. This is a wonderful time to bring awareness and equip students with the knowledge they need for a successful and self-satisfying future.
We are very grateful to Monterey Peninsula Foundation for their support of this grant program, and we look forward to a successful first year!
